Alpesh P Wood's work is a culmination of sculptures created as an art student, and those created after arriving in London. He was inspired to create them after listening to music, giving him the idea to design a combination of the human form and the shape of musical instruments such as the violin or the guitar.
Alpesh Patel is a trained sculptor currently based in the UK. He previously studied at Gujarat’s Baroda Faculty of Fine Art for nine years.
His current work is a culmination of sculptures created as an art student, and those created after arriving in London. He was inspired to create them after listening to music, giving him the idea to design a combination of the human form and the shape of musical instruments such as the violin or the guitar.
The process of creating these sculptures – a process which he developed himself - involves the initial preparation of wood with a particular type of water and a burning method. This process takes a minimum of 6 months and ensures the sculpture isn’t vulnerable to splits or cracks.
Alpesh’s teaching experience spans from tutoring in India for a year, to teaching basic skills in sculpture to students in high school, to working with gifted and talented school children in West London.
