Amal Ghosh was born in 1933 in Calcutta, India. After studying at Calcutta’s Government College of Art and Craft, he went on to study a postgraduate at London’s Central St Martins College of Art & Design upon moving to Britain in the ‘60s. He would later go on to receive an MA from Calcutta University in 1972 as well as another postgraduate in Art Therapy from the Hertfordshire College of Art, St Albans in 1982.

He has held several solos and group exhibitions in Asia, UK and USA including ‘Between Two Cultures’ at the London Barbican, ‘Transition of Riches’ at Birmingham Museum, ‘Confluence’ at Gallery Asiana in New York, and ‘Contemporary Paintings’ at the William Morris Gallery, London.

His commissioned works can be found in a variety of places from hospitals to community centres to government offices including Charing Cross Hospital, the House of Lords, and Belgrave Library (Cossington Street Recreation Ground, Leicester) where he created a mural in commemoration of the 2002 test cricket match between India and England.
