  • Sakti Burman

On canvas, Burman returns to his childhood where the transient, the imaginative, the innocent, the enchanting and the mythical exist. It is a world full of old magical tales that whisk the mind away, where trees hang with succulent fruit and flowers pulsate exotically – a harmonious world where giggling children ride on elephants, mythical creatures abound and flutists sing to the sky.

Sakti Burman was born in 1936 in Calcutta. A graduate of the College of Art in Calcutta, he attended the L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris. During his time in Paris, he often travelled to Italy and was drawn to its paintings and frescoes from the Renaissance era.
